Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance do I need to book?
That depends on your travel flexibility. Flights are more expensive the closer you get to your travel date. We prefer a three month window and no more than a year in advance. If you want to come next week, we will find a way to be ready!

If I book now with a deposit, can I travel next year at the same cost?
Yes you can. No worries.

Which airlines fly to Tanzania?
Our team generally uses KLM as they have one stop into Tanzania. Several airlines partner with KLM including American Airlines and Delta. Try to secure a flight that has a maximum of 24 hours as long layovers and multiple stops are very draining in international travel.

Do I need a visa?
Yes, but the easiest solution is to get one once you arrive in Tanzania. The cost as of 2026 is 100.00 per person.

Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
No. Your accommodations have blankets.

Do I need any special items?
There are multiple websites that discuss international travel and things to bring. Generally, less is more. Our recommendation is to keep your toiletries to six items- shampoo, conditioner, soap, shaving cream, razor and deodorant. We strongly recommend insect repellent (you are in the bush) and anti-itch medication (just in case) and sunscreen. Bring a hat. No colognes or perfumes, no hair appliances or excess makeup. Nothing survives the savanna, your lipstick will melt.

Are shots required?
No. Some are recommended, but Tanzania is malaria free. You decide.

Is there any kind of payment plan?
Yes. We do not want anyone to miss this opportunity so we try to be as accommodating as possible. You can make a deposit and make payments or a larger deposit and pay in full on your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport.

How much do kids cost?
Children under five are free to accompany their parents on safari. There are no child seats or high chairs available so plan to bring what you need.
Children five to twelve are 700.00 each.
Children twelve to eighteen are half price. These rates help to offset the costs of larger tents and charges for extra beds and more staff for the safari.

Can I bring a suitcase?
You can, but a duffle bag is more suitable for packing on your safari vehicle.

Do I need to get Tanzanian money?
Yes. Many places use only local currency and no credit cards. Cash is good for tips and purchasing small items, batteries, gum. Your bank or credit union have the best exchange rates. Hotels and airports charge up to 10% in fees for exchanges.

Is tipping allowed in Tanzania?
Yes, and it is very much appreciated by the locals.
